Dover, NH – Writer Liz Plourde and illustrator Randy Michaels release How i Made the World, their new comic book, in June 2014 and they have given Comic Fontline a First Look!
In How i Made the World, a college sophomore’s art project becomes an obsession that spins her life out of control. Strange students and dangerous dreams turn her midterm into a “Monster” – the first story in the debut issue of the Xeric Award-winning comic.
Plourde & Michaels’ work appeared in Lies Grown-ups Told Me, winner of the 2012 Stumptown Comic Arts award for Best Anthology.
“‘HiMtW’ is a wonderfully crafted, personal story in the fine indie tradition of Tomine and Los Bros. Hernandez.“
“…A contemporary and relatable self-published work that still has a ring of classic comic styles to it.”
How i Made the World was honored as recipient in the final round of self-publishing grants from The Xeric Foundation, the prestigious nonprofit corporation established by Peter Laird, co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Comics were judged on “originality, literary and artistic merit, and a sense of commitment to the work.”
The debut issue of How i Made the World, a 32-page black and white comic, retails for $2.95 and will be listed in the April issue of Diamond Comics Distributors’ Previews (on sale March 26). The Diamond order code is APR141257.
