Justice League Movie Announced

The last week saw two announcements from Warner Bros. on the DC Cinematic Universe front. The first
was the casting of Ray Fisher as Victor Stone/Cyborg in the Batman
vs. Superman
movie Thursday night followed by yesterday’s announcement
that Zack Snyder will be directing the
Justice League

Yesterday’s announcement marked the first time that the
studio confirmed their plans on bringing their premiere super-team to the big
screen, when Greg Silverman, President
of Worldwide Production
said that the studio has set plans to make a Justice
Following Man of Steel and the sequel tentatively
titled Batman vs. Superman (which begins production next month), Justice
will be directed by Zack
. Henry Cavill (Superman), Ben
Affleck (Batman),
and Gal Gadot
(Wonder Woman)
are all expected to reprise their Batman vs. Superman roles
for the Justice League movie. If the movie follows the pattern of The
New 52 Justice League
Ray Fisher
will most likely be returning for the Justice League movie as
well leaving Flash, Green Lantern,
and Aquaman from The
New 52 Justice League
yet to be cast.

“It will be a further expansion of this universe. Superman
vs Batman
will lead into Justice League.”

– Greg Silverman,
President of Worldwide Production
The Justice League script is still in
the development stage and Warner Bros.
hasn’t announced a release date. The company’s recent commitment to bringing
their DC properties to movie
theaters shows that they gearing up to catch up to their rival Walt Disney Co.’s Marvel Studios  Superhero Cinematic Universe.
Warner Bros. hasn’t
had much success with their superhero movies outside of the Dark
Knight Trilogy
, with both Green Lantern and Jonah
flopping at the box office. But with the recent success of Man
of Steel
Warner Bros. has
plans on changing that with several other DC/Vertigo
movies unconnected to the Justice League in various stages of development.
Silverman and Toby Emmerich, President of Warner’s New Line Cinema label say they
include Shazam, Metal Men, 100 Bullets, and Fables.
When asked about their plans for a Justice League spinoff
featuring Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, Warner executives said
they’re warm to the idea:

“That is our hope. With the right script, that could be
viable. The world is ready for her.”

– Sue Kroll, President
of Worldwide Marketing
