Kat’s reaction to the news that Channing Tatum might be Gambit in future X-Men movies. The news came from a comment made by X-Men Producer Lauren Shuler Donner during a press event for X-Men: Days of Future Past nothing has been officially confirmed yet.
This news has been making it’s way throughout the comic world as well as larger news outlets. The spark was ignited when the Producer was asked by Total Film what type of actor she’s looking for to play Gambit.
“It is Channing, yes, yes… he’s a rogue, Channing, he’s a rascal, just like Remy LeBeau. He can handle the action, as we know, and he’s got a real good heart, I know him personally. He’ll be great for Gambit, and he’s a southerner too, he understands that world, and you know Gambit loves New Orleans.”
Channing Tatum has made it known that he is interested in playing the Cajun X-Man in past interviews.
“Gambit’s my favorite, ‘cause I’m from New Orleans — or around that area, my dad’s from New Orleans.”
The actor also let it be known though that his desire to play Gambit was in no way an insult to Taylor Kitsch who had previously played him in FOX’s 2009 X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
“No knock on Taylor Kitsch, though, ’cause I actually like his Gambit, but I’ve always lived around Cajun people.”
X-Men: Days of Future Past opens on May 23. The next movie, X-Men: Apocalypse is expected in May 2016.
