Never before has the Wonder Woman newspaper strip from the 40s been collected. This August, with the help of DC Entertainment, IDW Publishing and the Library of American Comics are going to change that in Wonder Woman: The Complete Newspaper Comics.
Wonder Woman’s newspaper strip came out a couple of years after she debuted. The daily strip was written by the creative team of the comic book, which included Wonder Woman’s creator William Moulton Marston as the writer and Harry G. Peters as the artist. This hardcover book will be 196 pages long and collects the entire newspaper strip that was published from May 1, 1943 to December 1, 1944.
The hardcover relives Wonder Woman’s origin story. It takes place on Paradise Island, which is inhabited by Amazonian women who do not allow men on the island. That is, until a wounded soldier, Steve Trevor, is sent adrift and washed up on the shore. Princess Diana (a.k.a. Wonder Woman) must travel to America. This of course leads to numerous adventures. The collection will be available August 2014.
