SDCC: Disney Announces Pirates of The Caribbean 5

The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has not come to an end yet. Walt Disney Pictures has announced that there is a going to be a fifth installment of the movie franchise titled Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales staring Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow

The screenplay will be written by Jeff Nathanson with Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg directing the film. It was initially targeted to release for 2015 but due to budget and some unfinished script it was pushed back and will be hitting the theaters July 7, 2017. It has been confirmed in January of 2014, filming is to begin in Puerto Rico and New Orleans towards the end of the year.

In September, 2013, rumored details began to surface. It was said that it would start off with an awkward wedding and ends with a twist of the myth of the Bermuda Triangle. A big part of the film is a new female lead scientist who is accused of witchcraft. Taking the place of Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley is a young British couple from farming families. What gives the film its title is a ghost who is a former member of the British military siding with Captain Barbossa on a revenge mission.

This all sounds so exciting and something you would expect to watch from a pirate movie. How Jack Sparrow fits into all this is a mystery. I can’t wait to grab a bucket of popcorn and sit down to watch this movie unravel before my eyes. Hopefully this fresh new twist will be a big hit just like the previous pirate movies.
