SDCC: Yahoo Decides Not To Binge Community

Community was given a reprieve from cancellation recently thanks to Yahoo Screen! This news had fans of the little show that could jump for joy, and left them with some questions like: Will Community be released by the week or by the season?

Community joins the list of shows like Arrested Development that were cancelled but found a new life thanks to online streaming. When Community was cancelled this spring many people were hoping that Netflix or Hulu Plus would grab the fan-favorite series to give them that long dreamed of 6th season, but were surprised when Yahoo, through Yahoo Screen! stepped into play and announced that they will continue the comedy with a Season 6 that will feature a 13 episode order.

While that news allowed fans to leave a sigh of relief and a gasp of joy they still wanted to know the details one of which is how it will air. Most shows that are first-run via online streaming sites launch a whole season at one time, but Community will instead be aired weekly. Series creator, Dan Harmon joked during the panel that everyone will be watching the show the same way they always have — “except now legally.”

The panel featured Dan Harmon, Joel McHale, Chris McKenna, Jim Rash, Gillian Jacobs, and Dino Stamatopouls. As for the question: When fans can expect Season 6? The only hint so far is that it won’t come before Christmas 2014.
