The latest story arc for Nailbiter, the ongoing series about a town famous for being the birthplace of serial killers, will be starting this November. What mysteries and scares have the creative team thought of for this arc?
The writer of the series is Joshua Williamson (Ghosted, The Illuminati) and the artist is Mike Henderson (Masks & Mobsters, Venom). In this story arc, beginning with Nailbiter #17, a new serial killer is introduced. According to Williamson, “This arc we’ve nicknamed ‘The Devil went down to Georgia,’ and it highlights a NEW SERIAL KILLER! A brutal and demented serial killer is on the loose in Atlanta, Georgia…is the killer from Buckaroo? Is it the new Buckaroo Butcher?” To further entice readers, Williamson also mentioned that “this arc opens with probably our most violent and horrific scene yet! This whole arc is building to something HUGE in Nailbiter.”
Henderson added even more comments about the gross-out factor of the new Nailbiter arc: “We’re finally back to the bloody mystery of Warren, and Crane goes Lone Ranger on the town of Buckaroo while Finch is away… This is probably our wildest story arc, and if it makes even one reader squirm or say ‘ew’ out loud as much as I did while drawing it, I’ll mark it down as a win. And we’re just getting started.”

I’ve been following this series from the beginning and named it my favorite series of 2014. If you are a fan of horror, I highly recommend it. The series is not only good because of its scares, but also because of the mysteries surrounding the town and, of course, the cast of genuinely interesting characters that you’ll actually want to see another sunrise. A big reason I’m looking forward to the new story arc is not the new serial killer (though that’s pretty promising too) but that fact that Sheriff Crane will have an even bigger role to fill. Crane is probably my favorite character in the series… not counting Warren (because I’m a sucker for a nailbiter).
Published by Image Comics, Nailbiter #17 will be available on November 4, 2015. The three previous volumes and issue 16 are available now.
