Vote for last week’s categories: Under The Radar Series, Mini-Series, Shocking Moment, New Series

Best Writer

5. Rainbow Rowell (Runaways)

Rainbow has been one of the most consistent writers in superhero comics, and I can’t wait to see what she does with she Hulk this coming year.

4. Jeff Lemire (Robin & Batman, Mazebook)

Spanning from his indie work on Mazebook to his superhero work on Robin & Batman – every book this year has been a slam dunk.

3. Joshua Williamson (Robin)

Robin has quickly become a modern classic under Williamson’s pen, and I can’t wait to see his journey on the Batman flagship.

2. Kyle Higgins (Radiant Black, Darkhawk)

Higgins not only created a new, exciting universe with Radiant Black, but also a lovable character for Marvel with Darkhawk.

1. Tom Taylor (Nightwing, Seven Secrets, Dark Knights of Steel, Superman: Son of Kal-El, Dark Ages)

From his elseworld books to the giant success that has become the Nightwing relaunch, Tom Taylor has deservingly been the talk of the town!

5. Gleb Melnikov (Robin)

Gleb brings a manga style and youth to Robin.

4. Andres Genolet (Runaways)

Genolet aces the facial expressions for these characters.

3. Chris Samnee (Fire Power)

Samnee makes the smallest moments powerful, and the biggest moments larger than life.

2. Marcelo Costa (Radiant Black)

Costa aces the superhero action by adding his own spin with some great experimental visuals.

Just like with Injustice Gods Among Us and Suicide Squad, I’m in awe of Redondo’s visuals.

5. Dark Knights of Steel #2

It’s hard to deliver a perfect first issue, but it’s even harder to follow it up with your second. Dark Knights of Steel perfectly follows up on the big events from the premiere, while adding its own twist and turns.

4. Nightwing #78

The start for a modern classic!

3. Runaways #100

The conclusion to one of my favorite comic runs from the last decade!

2. Robin #5

We need more robin team ups like this. Williamson perfectly captures their individual voices.

1. Immortal Hulk #48

A love letter to Betty and Bruce’s not perfect romance.

5. Crush & Lobo #2

4. Nightwing #81

3. TMNT: The Last Ronin #1
